Would you like to be a part of promoting specialties of Satoyama to the world?

Local producers and creators collaborate and redesign the packaging of Echigo-Tsumari’s specialties, promoting as “Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale” products. This is a collaborative project where creators rediscover the charm and beauty of traditional materials and craftsmanship, to propose fresh approaches to marketing local goods, thereby helping to revive the local economy.


How to participate

If you are a local producer

Wanting to change your image? Wondering how to reach new customers? Are you developing new products from local traditions? Please contact us to discuss how we can work together to expand the market for your product as a part of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale.


If you are a creator

We are calling for package design proposals for sweets and sake of Echigo-Tsumari, and ideas for utilizing traditional techniques in the region. Selected proposals will be applied to local products and promoted as an original brand of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale.

Achievements

Approximately 30 items were chosen from over 900 proposals in the public call for ROOOOTS proposals that coincided with Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2009. The sales of these goods was three to twenty times more than the previous Triennale in 2006 and many of the participating designers won various design awards. 27 items were produced during Setouchi International Art Festival in 2010. Rooots was granted “Good Design Award – Public Communication” in 2010.
