Born in 1964 in Yongwol, South Korea. Participated and presented at Venice Biennale (1999) and Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain (2007-2008) as one of the most prominent Asian artists. Known for three-dimentional artworks made of diverse materials and mixed media such as cyborg of mechanics and humans which could appear in a film featuring the end of the world or glittering and shining models of architectures and metropolises which are about to collapse. What drives her creation is "resist against this unjustice world" from the exeprience of being suppressed by the military regime. The artist has been creating artworks taking inspirations from Bruno Taut and Vladimir Tatlin. In Japan, she had a solo exhibition at Mori Art Museum (2012) and presented work at Aichi Triennale 2013.
