Put on a pair of KEEN’s trekking shoes and explore Akiyamago, home of matagi. Enjoy “DEAI”, one of the abandoned house projects under ETAT followed by buffet lunch full of seasonal flavours in the spring air.
【Where to meet】
Parking at Mitama Fudoson
【If booked shuttle service】
8:55 at west exit Tokamachi station, depart at 9:00
JPY2000 (for return trip)
10:00 Opening ceremony → transfer to Katakuri House by bus → Morning programme → Lunch → Afternoon programme →15:00 Closing ceremony → transfer to parking at Mitamafudoson by bus →15:30 Visit “DEAI” (only for those wanted) → 16:15 Tour finishes at around the parking of Mitamafudoson   *Shoes you rented are available for purchase.
【If rain】
We are afraid that we may have to change the itinerary depending on the weather conditions. We will go ahead with the itinerary if it rains. We will make decision of cancelling the itinerary around 6:00am if raining hard and contact you by phone.
【What to bring】
Hat, rain gear, folded umbrella, bottle of water, hokensho
(If you are not going to rent a trekking shoes please put a pair suitable for walking around)

Try on cool and functional KEEN’s trekking shoes. You can rent them and if you like, they will be yours (on sale).
■Experience nature of Akiyamago
Akiyamago is a home of Matagi. Local guide will take you through nature of Akiyamago.
■Special buffet prepared by Katakuri House
Enjoy seasonal flavour outdoor prepared by staff members of Katakuri House. There will be a surprise present to participants.
【Katakuri House】
A primary school which accommodated local children from 1884 till 1992 has been renovated into onsen accommodation. A young couple who were attracted to the abundant nature and history of the place look after the accommodation and welcome guests with local delicacies.
Outdoor foot-ware brand from America. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, KEEN has been participating in ETAT since 2012 in collaboration with KEEN ambassador, Bubb and Gravityfree through an abandoned house project, DEAI.
Akiyamago, described as utopia by Bokushi Suzuki from Edo period is a name given to villages located along the Nakatsugawa river and located in the valley in between Nagano and Niigata prefectures. The region keeps traditional life style surrounded by the abundant nature.
