A 50-year old wooden school has been renovated into an accommodation. Visitors can enjoy found memories of their own school days and freshly sourced and cooked food by local staff members.

Established in 1884, a primary school had been a center of the community in Akiyamago (a hidden area in Echigo-Tsumari) until its closure in 1992. A couple who were attracted to the rich nature and history of the site have taken over its operation in 2009 and now welcome visitors.

An over 150 year-old minka house (traditional Japanese house)’s surface including celling, walls and pillars were carefully curved by a total of 3000 people over two and half year period. Visitors can enjoy meeting with local villagers and stay in the house with a group of friends or family.
