Isobe Yukihisa Memorial Echigo-Tsumari Kiyotsu Soko Museum of Art

In response to distinctive surface of the rocks and beautiful colour of Kiyotsugawa river, this new museum features artworks featuring the power of materials as part of nature and effort of human beings to connect with nature. A large gymnasium space of a former Kiyotsukyo primary school which was closed six years ago has turned into a gallery space and warehouse. The museum invites visitors to enjoy a panoramic view of large installations and artworks as they explore the gallary space. The rest of the school building serves as a platform for residency and different projects.

Local delicacies of the region is beautifully presented in Kiyotsukyo Bento Box (JPY950) which is sold at the adjecent building of ex-Kiyotsukyo primary school. The hexagon shape of the Kiyotsukyo Bento represents the shape of the building of the Kiyotsu SoKO Museum and food in the bento box represents various discoveries that we made from the Echigo-Tsumari region. Enjoy natural environment and the local delicacies as well as encounter with local people.
“Pizza making workshop” will be run at the museum during the ETAT2015.
