NEWSPosted : August 23, 2019
We are pleased to announce the result of the open call for the Australia House Residency Program 2019.
We received 44 applications in total not only from Australians living throughout the country but also from those living overseas. Their backgrounds vary from visual art, photography, performing arts, architecture, music, literature, writing, research, and education, and the selection process was very competitive.
The selected applicant is as below:
Name: Elena Knox / Performance, media artist
Profile: Currently based in Tokyo, Elena Knox is a researcher in the Department of Intermedia Art & Science at Waseda University. Her work cuts through digital media, performance, sculpture, sound, music and installation. She amplifies human impulses to totemism and fetishism, by which we attempt to commune with parahuman phenomena, pushing back against our ultimate loneliness in the galaxy. At Australia House, Elena will work on a project involving a Japanese robot, human experience of landscape, and a journey to the North Pole.
2019, video installation, robot performance, work-in-progress
*Residence program is supported by the Australian Embassy Tokyo
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to all the applicants for their proposals.
Australia House is available as accommodation for your residency and work all the year except for winter season. If you have any interest, please contact Echigo-Tsumari Art Field Information.
