<p> “Snow Workers’ Ballet by Mierle Laderman Ukeles in 2003 as well as theater, dance, and Cambodian traditional performing art by NGO Phare Ponleu Selpak in 2009 will be restaged mainly in weekends during the Triennale. </p><br />

<p>“Omatsuri (festival) project (tbc)” where traditional local festivals in villages meet contemporary art performances, Kurumaza Onigiri where locals welcome visitors, “performance at the door” by Shigaya Mori, and ONDEKOZA is going to be based in Kawaji – all of these projects aims to revitalize villages while appreciating local traditions in Satoyama.</p><br /><br />

<h4>(3) "Participate" in the Triennale<br />

<p>107 out of the total of 214 villages have participated in previous triennales by offering places for artworks and events. The next Triennale will continue to highlight histories and backgrounds of participating villages.</p><br />

<p>Tsunan Art Moriagetai, Tsunan-based group of supporters will present a market which introduces charms of Tsunan. In addition to sales of local specialities, traditional plays as well as events will welcome visitors every weekend. The market space itself will be an interesting artwork to visit, designed by Sotaro Yamamoto using furniture fittings.</p><br />

<h4>Defining Satoyama scenery by outdoor artworks</h4><br />

<p>Nihon University, Tokyo College of Photography, Kyoto Seika University have been engaged with activities in Echigo-Tsumari and deepen the relationship with locals. Many companies and groups have provided <a href="http://www.echigo-tsumari.jp/eng/about/sponsors/" target="_blank">financial support in the form of sponsorship</a> or in exchange for naming rights and work with local people. The following new collaborative projects will be launched in addition to existing ones.</p><br />

<h4>KEEN HOUSE</h4><br />

<p>KEEN, an American-born outdoor trainers brand, has been supporting Echigo-Tsumari, first as an owner of the <a href="http://www.echigo-tsumari.jp/eng/activity/tanada_owner" target="_blank">Matsudai Tanada Bank</a>, and then as a sponsor of <a href="http://www.echigo-tsumari.jp/eng/activity/rinkan" target="_blank">Echigo-Tsumari Forest School</a>. During the next Triennale, KEEN will establish a platform utilizing an unoccupied house in Tsunan area where rural revitalization, environmental protection, outdoor activities and art meet satoyama.</p><br />

<h4>The Society for Clinical Art</h4><br />

<p>Approximately 800 artists and groups have been participated in the previous Triennale and more than 50 of them have revisited villages and deepen the relationship with local people. Community Design Project will be launched in order to take these initiative forward.</p><br />

<p> Nihon University College of Art Sculpture course will engage with challenges that the Hoshitoge Villages faces by building a stage around Shedding House and Croquette House for local festivals. The project will bring avant-garde performances in collaboration with Theater Department of Nihon University as well as help maintain rice production on the terraced rice field. </p>
