workshop For families

Parcitipating artists meet the harsh winter and create artworks for visitors to play and enjoy. Experience “SNOWART” as you see, play, feel and taste these artworks presented on the white snow field.

Try ride on Kotatsu, snow board or eat at the venue in KINARE in January and visit Matsudai Nohbutai in February when special artworks will be presented in the peak of winter.

“Kotatsu Car Circuit” by FUKASAWA Takafumi

A moving kotatsu with a bicycle hidden inside may warm you up without using electricity.

“Snowboard” by KURAKAKE Junichi

Enjoy sliding on the snowboard on snow. Check out the specially designed board by the artist.

“Echigo-Tsumari Collaboration Sweet Stall 2021 Winter” by YORIKO

Yoriko will run workshop to make auspicious sweet of Echigo-Tsumari called “chinkoro”.

【Date of workshop】JPY200 only between 11:00 and 15:00 on Saturdays and Sundays during the duration

“Under the big kotatsu” by OKAFUJIISHI

Enjoy warm and memorable space of the big kotatsu as you remember experience of hiding and playing in a kotatsu in your childhood.

Omochi Bar

Ask locals for the best way to eat omochi cooked in charcoal with various options of condiments.

“Walk on Snow with Giant Makio (tbc)” by Michiyoshi Isozaki

The 10m tall giant, Makio returns to Matsudai Nohbutai. In addition to the performance of browing parachutes with letters collected by visitors, you may be able to meet floppy Makio towards the end of the winter program!?

“SNOWFIELD TABLE” by ReBuilding Center Japan

The table which appeared at KINARE last year will take the central position at the venue outside of Matsudai Nohbutai this year – it starts as rather tall table until the snow falls and adjust the table hight to be a perfect.

“Mountain Sledge Festival” by HORIKAWA Michio and Mountain Sledge Team

Inspired by the past custom of cutting trees in winter and brough them out on a sledge, the artist creates a sledge to play on snow.

Satoyama Snow Activity by Matsudai Kakashi-tai

Kakashi-tai members share and help visitors experience various winter activities from their childhood including making a rope, kite as well as sliding on snow on different materials. Enjoy taste of anbo cooked on charcoal.

“Snow Art Niigata Unit Square” by Snow Art Niigata Unit

Artists living in snow countries create artworks makign the best use of snow which invite visitors to play, make or throw.

“Maigu-san, munch munch” by MATSUMOTO Yuma

The parent and a child of Maigo will be enshrined in the snowfield.
