Matsudai "NOHBUTAI" Field Museum/Exhibition "Satoyama Snow Amusement Park2024"
This facility will serve as the center of the Matsudai area for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale. Visitors can enjoy not only limited-time artworks but also various weekly snow activities such as snow tubing, wood-chopping, and a snow soccer tournament with FC Echigo-Tsumari in the snowy satoyama.
Matsudai Local History Museum
The Matsudai History Museum is a stately building unique to the area of heavy snowfall, with the hearth, tatami room, and tea ceremony room remaining as they were in those days. Please enjoy chatting with locals around the fireplace and experience the good old history and culture of Matsudai in this relaxing space.
Echigo Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo
This artwork and restaurant is located inside Matsudai Nohbutai. While enjoying the art space, you can enjoy a popular menu featuring Matsudai's local cuisine and home-style dishes with a twist. The "Satoyama Buffet," available only on weekends and holidays, features cheese fondue served with local vegetables and homemade bread for a limited time. On weekdays, a set meal called "Satoyama Gohan" is available. We also recommend the satoyama sweets made with seasonal ingredients.

Since it is a 15-minute walk from the station, warm clothes and non-slip shoes are a must.

Museum on Echigo-Tsumari (MonET)/ Permanent & Special Exhibitions
MonET is the center of the Tokamachi area for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field. Tanaka Ai's exhibition "Reverse String" is being held inside the museum, and Suzuki Yasuhiro's exhibition "“Horizontal Being|seeing snow " is being held outdoors on the snow. At the same venue, visitors can also enjoy the traditional game of Hannekeshi and local foods.
Normally it takes 10 minutes, but please allow extra time for the snow.
