Nunagawa Campus

Nunagawa Campus is an open school for anyone who is willing to learn the wisdom for living through food, lifestyle, playingi and dancing based upon farming and discover confidence and strength in oneself. Tutors are artists and supporters of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field as well as local experts.

Echigo-Tsumari "Kamigo Clove Theatre"

Kamigo Junior High School closed in 2012 re-opens as a base for performing arts. This is a resident, space for practice and stage to present performances. Artists stays and lead satoyama life-style and learn through collaboration with local people and complete their performances. A unique restaurant runs and "is performed" by local women engaging with customers serves local delicacies.

Isobe Yukihisa Memorial Echigo-Tsumari Kiyotsu Soko Museum of Art

The gymnasium of a former Kiyotsukyo primary school has been tranformed into a space of gallery and warehouse of artworks. The opening exhibition "four artists: materials and hands" is launched in conjenction with the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2015. The rest of the school building serves as an information centre as well as a platform for "Kiyotsuya" - a food project operated by a joint team between Tokyo Denki University and Kyoritsu Women's university during ETAT2015.

Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art, KINARE

Designed by architect, Hiroshi Hara, the building was opened in 2003 as a place for exchange people, products and information. In conjunction with the ETAT2012, it was re-opened as Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art, KINARE. The museum serves as a gateway to the Echigo-Tsumari region with artworks inspired and representing topography, history, villages, fields, closed schools and abandoned houses, and food.

Matsudai History Museum

This history museum is a renovation of approximately 140-year-old Keyaki Minka (traditional Japanese house made of zelkova trees) which represents typical structure of the region with heavy snowfall in winter and displays tools and documentations of lifestyle of Matsudai area.

Hachi & Seizo Tashima Museum of Picture Book Art

It will be closed for the winter holidays from the end of November to the end of April

A walk-in picutre book by Seizo Tashima in the space of closed school was opened in 2009. The story is based upon the last three students of the school and visitors will experience the story of the picture book as they walk through the museum. The space is filled with objects made of drift-wood picked up in Izu Peninsula and Japan sea representing students, teachers and even monsters who were once occupying the space.
