Ubusuna House

Housed in an old thatched-roof minka (traditional Japanese house) built over 80 years ago. Visitors can enjoy home-cooked meals made by local women using seasonal produce and served on plates and bowls made by famous Japanese potters. (Limited period only)

Echigo-Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo

At the Echigo-Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo, we invite you to enjoy fresh vegetables, "sansai" (wild mountain plants), and locally-cultivated rice while overlooking terraced rice field landscapes. The restaurant serves a unique menu inspired by local traditional recipes passed down over generations - but with a modern twist.

TSUMARI KITCHEN CAFE

Under the concept of linking urban and rural regions, TSUMARI KITCHEN CAFE opened in 2018 in Nunagawa Campus, previously an elementary school building. Dining at TSUMARI KITCHEN is restricted to visitors joining an official guided tour but as we wish for all visitors to enjoy this space, as of August 11th 2018 (Sat), following the lunch service we have opened this space as a cafe.

Surrounded by the "Art Fragment" collection, visitors at this cafe can enjoy a cup of environmentally-friendly specialty coffee. Our recommendation is the "Fragment Blend" and the salted onigiri (rice ball). Various events around the concept of coffee and food are also frequently scheduled at this space.

Cafe and restaurant space located within the Hachi & Seizo Tashima Museum of Picture Book Art. The chairs and tables used in the cafe are remade of those once used at this former elementary school. The cafe serves food and original desserts only using produce from the Echigo-Tsumari region.
