This fall, a visual book titled *Tashima Seizo’s “A”* (Kosei Publishing), which introduces “Tashima Seizo Today,” will be published. This exhibition will feature large-scale paintings and recent artworks with unique titles, alongside photographs taken by Nobuo Onishi (photographer and film director) specifically for this book, capturing the current Tashima—from moments of him holding a paintbrush and tackling large-scale works to scenes of him taking walks.In addition, the exhibition will feature photographs from Nobuo Onishi’s photo-illustrated books: *The Season Dyed in Thread* (Iwasaki Shoten), which documents his visits to dyeing workshops in Tokamachi city, and *Japanese Candles: Connecting People* (Alice-kan), which profiles artisans specializing in traditional Japanese candles.
Please take your time to enjoy the latest work by Tashima Seizo, who continues to create to this day, as well as the photographs by Nobuo Onishi, who has meticulously observed the daily lives of people.

Nobuo Onishi
Born in 1968. Hails from Ikeda Town, Gifu Prefecture. Graduated from the Tokyo College of Photography and studied under photographer and film director Seiichi Motohashi. He established his own business at the age of 29 and subsequently became a freelance photographer. He began covering villages across Japan that were set to be submerged by dams, starting with Tokuyama Village in Gifu Prefecture, which was caught up in the construction of Japan’s largest dam.His work also features patients undergoing long-term hospitalization in psychiatric wards, the Great East Japan Earthquake, facilities for people with disabilities, and artisans—all rooted in the theme of “food, clothing, and shelter.” He also produces documentary films. He received the 2025 Japan Photographic Society Award. His current activities include magazine serializations, film production, and writing.
