About the artwork

A project to connect villages in Echigo-Tsumari to different parts of Asia via art
Uwano village has been keeping in touch with artists from Asia including Cai Guo-Qiang from China and Kim Koohan from South Korea. Based upon the Uwano community centre renovated into artist-in-residence and gallery, the project aims to establish a platform to connect the villages in Echigo-Tsumari to different regions in countries in Asia. The centre will serve as a place to exchange different lifestyles from these places as well as a cafe to enjoy and taste Asian cuisine.
