About the artwork

Supple bamboos cross over each other and invite the audience inside. Some unique elements found in lanes — the light and the sound traveling from outside, the chain of shadows reflecting on the ground — were connected and made a place for experiencing the spreading layers of consciousness. The production went forward with Tsuchiya and his students as well as the support by the people of Matsudai shopping lane. The members of the project say, “The feeling that ‘this was not possible only by one person’ remains in our heart. We will not forget the summer we spent together with Echigo-Tsumari.”
