About the artwork

A stone sits at the point of the ruins of Fushikuro Castle, overlooking the Shinano River, ruins of terraced fields and the Echigo Sanzan (three mountains of Echigo) in the distance. The stone is carved to resemble one of the three mountains,Mt. Hakkai. When visitors trace their hands over the stone, they can feel as well as see the landscape before them, and feel the connection to nature.
