About the artwork

I want to make a cover cloth to give comfort to a dying tree. In this context the cloth is made from several flip-flops(rubber sandals) collected from the Atlantic Oceanin Ghana and partly from individuals in Japan – symbolizing the many people in the world who are concern about our gradual dying ecology. The floating flip-flops debris from the ocean though varied in shapes, form and colour, had traveled from different parts of the world, have had contact with several people and have served a common purpose(protection). The finished work which can also take several sculptural forms would be installed around the tree to communicate and encourage the need for our collective protection of nature.
