About the artwork

The art works are installed in classrooms on the second floor and in the corridors of each floor. When the artist visited the school not long after it was closed, he was goaded by signs on the walls of the school entrance and classrooms that read “Task Force against Bullying” and “Prefectural Citizens’ Movement on the Eradication of Bullying in Operation.” He then decided to work with the theme of bullying. Atop five desks, there are even smaller desks where hooded child dolls sit and look at you. The statues are placed here and there so that visitors can encounter them unexpectedly. Works by five students who actually attended the school are also on display.
