About the artwork

For the duration of a year, the artist videotaped nature in the Echigo-Tsumari region in each season, its local residents, and visitors to the Triennial. He then created a 60-minute visual poem. The artist edited the footage according to themes, aiming to integrate video footage and animation, film and paintings. During the Triennial, “earth” was shown at the Echigo-Tsumari Exchange Center, as well as at Tokamachi Cinema Paradise. The work was also sold for home viewing on DVD under the title “Tsumari to Go.”
