This artist, who discovered the world through lithography, used limestone this time from Niigata Prefecture to portray the trees, wild lilies, and sea of the prefecture. “The landscapes I encountered during my search for stones to make lithography, and the landscapes witnessed by the stones themselves over tens of millions of years, merge as layered landscapes on the print surface (comments from the artist).”
The exhibition featured not only the lithographs, but also the lithographic stones used to make them. Videos were also shown of the search for the stones, their processing, and the documentation of Karekimata (inside Ryuo Gongen Shrine). They presented moving images resonating in contrast with the static images presented by the lithographs.
