About the artwork

“If what is expected of a scarecrow is to chase a bird, Fukagawa scarecrow is a funny scarecrow that would never let anything slip away.” A unique annual event called the “scarecrow contest” is held in Fukagawa Shiryokan Street in downtown Tokyo. Scarecrows entered the contest come to protect the terraced rice field in Echigo-Tsumari, a place famous for rice production.
