About the artwork

Featuring “Tokamachi monyo” (Tokamachi pattern) on film sheet containing rice and sugar. Tokamachi monyo is a combination of patterns of Echigo-Tsumari represented by Jomon pottery and leaves of a kind of native hemp with Karauksa – a simbol of “prosperity, vitality, and auspiciousness – originally brought from ancient Egypt in the Nara period to Japan.
