About the artwork

Until 1997, sumo wrestling matches dedicated especially for wishing for good harvests and good health were once held at Senju Shrine. Taking inspiration from old photographers of the scene from then, the artist brings back to life the past liveliness in this now tranquil space. River stones representing the audience are selected and placed in cooperation with the local community.
