About the artwork

“At former crematorium, a place for death and rebirth”A pair of wings is placed on a former crematorium, facing two big cedar trees and a stone Buddha. Sitting on the chair between the wings, one imagines a place one would like to go, a longed-for time, a person one hopes to meet. One can practice flying after death, like the souls of the dead cremated here, who flew up to heaven with the flames and the smoke. Death is fearsome, death is sad, but the soul may be handed down in perpetuity, its story continuing forever. It is important to recall that we are alive, and owe our lives to someone else.Along with the big cedar trees and the stone Buddha, I hope this device will help people to remember what was done at this site, to hand on its memories to posterity.
