About the artwork

These five iron sculptures were conceived of as spirits of the woods. They are lined up in a vacant lot beside a parking lot. Hoshino’s “Wonder Forest” series is a group of sculptures he has been working on since the 1980s. The “wonder”, implying the presence of the unseen, suggests that the forest is a sacred space.
