SAKATA Kiyoko Solo Exhibition - Unrememberable Words

Summary

Gallery Yuyama is holding a four-phase exhibition in conjunction with “Echigo-Tsumari in 2023. The third exhibition features a solo show by Sakata Kiyoko, who transforms old private house spaces with her latest works that make full use of diverse expressions.

[Concept of the work.]
Sometimes, when people face hardships, it is difficult for them to express their experiences in words, and words are lost. In addition, the passage of time and changes in the environment make it difficult to pass on such experiences and memories. The work “Words I Cannot Remember” uses the metaphor of a book as a metaphor for memories that have stubbornly refused to open, and hopes to create a space where viewers and I can think of circuits that connect and open while contemplating the loss of memories.
