”Tanokura D.I.Y. House iju" Event / Fox Road TripFox Tanokurun(2023)

Fun Running Event "Fox Road TripFox Tanokurun"

Tanokura is a village located in Tokamachi in the Matsudai area. Rice terraces cover the slopes of the mountain, and natural beech and Japanese cedar forests grow in all directions around Tanokura, creating a village surrounded by rich nature. The Fox Tanokurun event was created for the participants to be able to enjoy this very nature. Based on an old fox folklore, the runners wear fox-shaped masks and run through the beautiful nature of Tanokura village. We invite all runners and supporters alike to enjoy the charm of this mountain village!

  • [Meeting place]  Tanokura D.I.Y House iju (1380 Tanokura, Tokamachi-city, Niigata 943-1533)
    *We will pick you up from iju and drop you off in front of the starting point. If you are coming by car, please use the iju parking lot.
  • [Fee] Adults 2,500 yen, University students 2,000 yen, High school students and younger 1,500 yen(includes free T-shirt)
  • [Qualification] Participants must be dressed as foxes.
    *Goods and makeup available for loan.

    (1) Tanokura circuit course (3km) *Guideline: 40-45 minutes walking, 15 minutes jogging (women)
    (2) Tanokura Senno Course (4km) *Guideline: walk + run (women) 60 minutes, jog (men) 20 minutes.
  • [Capacity] Approx. 100 people
  • [Application & Deadline]  Please apply by Aug  18 (Fri.) using the reservation form (first-come, first-served basis; deadline when capacity is reached).

【Start from JR Echigo-Yuzawa Station】Fresh Greenery and Sansai (Wild Vegetables) Tour
This tour visits Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel, House of Light, and other representative Echigo-Tsumari art sites. Enjoy lunch at an old thatched house, where you will be served handmade meals prepared by the village mothers using an abundance of wild vegetables and local produce. Refresh your body and mind in the satoyama with its fresh green leaves. It takes 1 hour from Tokyo to Echigo Yuzawa Station by Shinkansen.

Reservations are available at Early-bird Price until July 12.
Digest tour of all six areas of Echigo-Tsumari. The tour will trace the history of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, focusing on the base facilities where new works and special exhibitions are developed. You can enjoy lunch at TSUMARI KITCHEN, where you will enjoy a new tour-only menu supervised by Chef Yonezawa Fumio .

[From/to Tokamachi station] B: Tokamachi and Kawanishi route
Reservations are available at Early-bird Price until July 12. 　This course takes you to the Tokamachi and Kawanishi areas on the north side of Echigo-Tsumari. You will enjoy Lunch at Ubusuna House, an old thatched-roof house where local mothers prepare dishes. If you are lucky, you may hear the famous Tokamachi Kouta.
