Kaki Tree Project: "Bouran, Koron, Workshop"

In March 2001, the year after the first Echigo-Tsumari Art Trienniale, two “A-bombed persimmon trees II” were planted in Matsudai. Everyone painted pictures and words on flags and rings to decorate these trees. Let us entrust our thoughts of peace to the persimmon trees that have grown up so well.

On Saturday, November 9th, 2024, a performance will be held at Echigo-Tsumari "Kamigo Clove Theatre," featuring a concert by a orchestra and musicians consisting of local residents. They will breathe new life into old agricultural and folk tools that were once used.

On October 14th, 2024, the Akayama Arts Center will host the Akayamago Oakasawa Regeneration Symposium! Taking place at the former Tsunan Elementary School Akasawa Branch, located in the deepest part of Echigo-Tsumari, this event will feature exhibitions showcasing the inheritance of traditional skills in the Akayamago region.

On Sunday, October 13th and Monday, October 14th, 2024, a theater performance by local children will take place at the Echigo-Tsumari "Kamigo Clove Theatre"! Playwright and director Ochi Yoshie will supervise the production, allowing the community's unique characteristics to be rediscovered through theater.

[CHINAHOUSE] SPECIAL EXHIBITION “START FROM EIGHT VOLUMES”

CHINAHOUSE, a cultural exchange center with China, was created in 2016 by renovating a vacant house. In the 10 years since the project began, 8 newsletters have been published, chronicling the project's activities. The history of the project is on display on the second floor of the building.
