About the artwork

“JIKU” is a series of projects that uses light to express the regional axes that have been obscured by urban development and changes in the landscape. This artwork is set at Misashima Station on the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line. Using the tracks of the Hokuhoku Line—which has fostered new connections within the region since its opening in 1997—the artwork expresses the value and energy of connecting one place to another. Lighting installations positioned at the front and rear of a special train illuminate the straight tunnel in sync with the sound. This is an experiential artwork that can only be viewed by passengers aboard the special train.

How to see the artwork

① Make a reservation through the booking website.
② Purchase a ticket at the station. *You can board the train at either Matsudai Station or Tokamachi Station.
② View the artwork while the train is stopped at Misashima Station.
④ Get off at Tokamachi Station or Matsudai Station.

"Australia House" Summer Landscaping Maintenance 2026

In the garden of Australia House, there is an artwork called the “Gardening Project.” While work on the project—except during spring and fall—is usually carried out with residents of the local Urada district, we’ve decided to invite adults from the general public to join us this time. Let’s work together—discussing the garden, plants, and the differences between the flora of Kanagawa and Tsumari—and then enjoy some tea afterward.

Tetsuro Kano: Infinite and Finite Stacks / Flexible Stacking

Collecting and stacking natural objects such as stones and trees. This is a form of play, a form of marking, and a primal act of creation that has, at times, supported religious beliefs. Through this workshop, let’s reawaken our “wild” sense of texture and form.

Summer Mystery-Solving Field Museum Notebook 2026
— Discover the Mysteries of the Satoyama Through Art —

Visit the artworks and stamp stations scattered throughout the Field Museum and solve the puzzles using keywords related to the satoyama landscape! As you stroll, you’ll encounter artworks by artists from around the world, as well as The Rice Fields, forests, and the insects and flowers that live there.

NUNAGAWA Campus

Let’s make “Kitchen Lithographs" with artist Kinukawa Yasunori, using chocolate, aluminum foil, and coca-cola.

Experience a mysterious printing technique that takes advantage of the repulsion between water and oil, using items found in the kitchen! You can print 2 to 3 sheets using the same plate within the allotted time.
