Akeyama Arts Center
The former Tsunan Elementary School Oakasawa Branch, which closed in 2021, has been reborn as a place to carry on its history and convey the history and culture of Akiyamago through art. Under the supervision of artist Fukasawa Takafumi, who continues research in the area, it will operate as a "school for reclaiming the power of human life." Here, residents, researchers, artists, and others will learn and practice the techniques and beliefs of the "commons."

For lunch, we serve heartwarming meals made with locally sourced ingredients that are gentle on the body. The dining venue, "Katakuri no Yado," is also an accommodation facility renovated from a wooden school building. Former classrooms have become guest rooms, the principal's office is now a hot spring, and the gymnasium has been transformed into an interactive art installation—a facility enjoyable for both adults and children. After your meal, please enjoy viewing and experiencing the artwork "Tsumari Sugoroku" by Hara Rintaro + Hara Yu.

Ma Yansong / MAD Architects "Tunnel of Light" (Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel)
Seitsukyo Gorge, one of Japan's three great gorges, formed over 16 million years of geological history. Within its 750-meter Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel, visitors can admire the fusion of gorge beauty and art. The ever-changing natural scenery throughout the seasons is also a must-see.
※If the Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel is closed due to snow conditions, we will substitute with a visit to another artwork.

・Due to weather conditions, the route to view the artwork may involve walking on snow. We recommend wearing waterproof snow boots that cover your ankles.
・Arrival times at the final destination may vary. Please allow ample time when making your return Shinkansen train reservation.
