*Closed due to full enrollment.【Arrival and Departure at Echigo Yuzawa Station】Taste with all your senses! Yukimi Gozen & SNOWART Tour

Enjoy the Echigo-Tsumari 2023 winter project "SNOWART" and Yukimi Gozen (lunch) on this special bus tour while riding slowly on the bus. For lunch, you will stop at a village and enjoy the hospitality of the local people as well as the wisdom and culture of the snow country in Echigo-Tsumari. "SNOWART" is a winter art program of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field, which takes place in this region that has lived with snow. Please spend a special day in Echigo-Tsumari, one of Japan's heaviest snowfall areas, and enjoy the severe and beautiful winter scenery of the satoyama.

*This is an example of the tour itinerary. The order of stops will vary according to the villages visited during the Yukimi Gozen tour.

10:00 Meet at and depart from Echigo-Yuzawa station
50 min
10:50 The region's leading contemporary art museum, with a permanent collection plus special exhibitions on snow.
Museum on Echigo-Tsumari (MonET)/ Exhibition "Aspects of Snow I"
MonET is the center of the Tokamachi area for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field. In winter, the pond in the center of MonET transforms into a field of pure white snow, and four artists will present "Aspects of Snow I," a winter exhibition to reconsider the appeal of winter and snow in Echigo-Tsumari.
12:05 Enjoy a unique local "Hare Day" flavor for lunch.
Enjoy Yukimi Gozen
Please stop at a village and enjoy a lunch of Yukimi Gozen. You will have to wait until just before the tour to decide which village you will stop at. The carefully prepared dishes are served in lacquer ware that was once used for weddings and funerals in the village and kept in a safe place. The dishes prepared for "Yukimi Gozen" are not only nutritious but also deliciously satisfying to keep you going strong during the harsh winter months, and you can enjoy locally grown ingredients, both rice and vegetables.
13:50 Enjoy "Satoyama Snow Amusement Park" where you can play on the snow
Matsudai "NOHBUTAI" Field Museum/Exhibition "Satoyama Snow Amusement Park"
This is the center of the Matsudai area for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field. In the satoyama in winter, visitors can enjoy sledding on a natural incline, try the snow shoes "Kanjiki," and enjoy artwork that looks great in the snow.
15:30 A large-scale installation in which an entire closed school is transformed into a work of art
Christian Boltanski+Jean Kalman「The Last Class」
In an area that is closed off by deep snow for nearly half of the year, this work densely and heavily traps the memories of a former elementary school throughout the school. A contemporary art artist and a lighting artist teamed up to create an expression that appeals to all five senses, inviting the viewer into another world.
Around 17:00 The tour completes at Echigo-Yuzawa station
