Born in Turkey, 1949, currently based in Germany. Erkmen’s works are based on the local social and physical environment, entering into existing structures and situations
and giving them a new interpretation. She mixes life and art, and creates ambiguous spaces by switching the relationship between everyday spaces, objects, and
situations. She creates works that expand into the real world, where the work is only complete when there is an audience or participant.
