A BIG GUY

About the artwork

How many people, trapped in the confines of the daily grind, would think of flying away? To just drag forward, step by miniscule step, the weight of one’s own heavy body in this burdensome everyday existence is as much as one can manage. There might be an invisible weight bearing down on one’s body. One might be stuck somewhere, tied up without realizing it by countless balls and chains. One sighs, peeping out from a small crevice up at the sky. A decision is made and one tenses for action. Mustering the last scraps of energy, one might be able to lift just a little bit off the ground. Maybe, just maybe, one could then soar freely up high into the sky. Delusion, illusion, escape, or . . . a leap?
