About the artwork

The artist asked the community people to choose objects and pack them as a gift for somebody. He expected that the content of the pack would be secret even to the artist, so that only their sizes are visible. However, none of the objects were packed, and the artist understood that they didn’t like the idea of hiding something. (Actually, people wanted to ask the artist about how to pack.) Under this new situation, he decided to cover the inner side of a house with white Japanese paper and created an ideal space for a line of objects, a “time line.” At the same time, circle drawings by local children were also displayed. These art works expressed the past and future of the community.
