About the artwork

In the center of the Echigo-Tsumari Exchange Center, the Arch Forest was erected. Across the body of water in the courtyard area a corridor was laid, and on this a meeting area was designed using frames made from the same wood as the arches to make a cubical structure. This combined to serve as an exhibit area for artists, an information center and cafe, adding to the liquidity of the facility’s interior. The entire installation was self-built, consisting of 17 units of arches ranging from 4 meters to hand sized 4.5 centimeters.
