About the artwork

In Japan there are 1.5 million patients in hospitals at any one time, and they remain for an average stay of 40 days. A group of artists, in cooperation with the doctors, nurses and patients at the Tokamachi Hospital, did a series of projects were closed to the public in order to protect the delicate daily life in the hospital. Works of art were installed at many places in the hospital to make life there lively. The artists did a workshiop, doing drawings with children in the waiting room of the pediatrics ward, as well as a workshop to draw late summer greeting cards for the patients in the hospital.
