About the artwork

“Doma” (unfloored space) was once a familiar space in Japanese living. As the visitors pass through a low entrance, they are led into a space covered completely by soil. Inside, the artist created a bedroom surrounded with mud walls and, on the ceiling, paintings that had been found under the ground. The power of the soil radiates from the ground, the ceiling and the walls. The gentle circulation between the soil and the body produces a moment of calmness, says the artist.
