About the artwork

Through talking with the village elders, the artist researched how the locals used to live in the Uwano village in the past. The stories told included stories about working away from home, or being sent away from their home for marriage. Using these stories that she discovered, the artist creates a relief which projects diverse impressions that appear to be different when viewers observe it from different angles. This artwork which oscillates between “existence and non-existence” is presented as a pure white element within the old community centre, expressing “a vivid memory revealed in a white landscape”.
