About the artwork

In a 6m square classroom sits a giant black earthenware box. The floor and walls, hard-packed with earth, surround the black ceramic box. This exhibit follows the ways Japanese people come into contact with the earth, such as with dirt floors and earthenware. It recalls the nostalgia even when one enters such a space for the first time.
