About the artwork

The artist attempted to regenerate the site of a former branch school. The school building, made with wooden arches, can be divided into parts and moved as a “sleigh” in winter. The students from Senda School, the head school of the former branch, were invited to the school opening ceremony and a lecture was held about the history of their community. The old branch school building that used to stand there was once dragged down a snowy slope, but is still being used even today. This episode gave the artist a hint for thinking of a movable school.
