About the artwork

Made from kimono fabric and small pieces of cloth that had been carefully handed down or tucked away in chests, countless silk flower petals were made to float inside a storehouse over 70 years old. The artist’s original bear motif peeps out from various places of the artwork, such as in a white piece reminiscent of a wedding kimono. In the workshop held in the community, participants made hand-sewn kaori fukuro (scented sachets) which were placed near the entrance. The warmth that comes out from things handmade drifts inside the house and a spring-like soft and calm air gently fills the entire storehouse.
