Approximately 80 sliding doors were collected from vacant houses in many different areas of Echigo-Tsumari. The doors were used for the construction of 16 rooms, linked one to the next with the doors. Through these doors, visitors were led into a labyrinth structure. The artist said, “Through the forest of doors, I was able to find the remaining traces of those who were using these old doors in their lives, and it made me feel a wave of time that had already passed. The work was not just a plastic sculpture consisting of doors and pillars, but a memorial with empty spaces for memories which could never be restored.” (Ahn Kyu Chul)
