About the artwork

As part of Floor Event, which the artist has been producing since 1969, this piece has been created in an empty house in the Tamugi community since 2003. For 2009, a garden was created inside the building using thinned wood that had been abandoned in the mountains of Tsuan. This was cut and laid onto the floor together with silver-painted Tamugi bamboo. Superimposed with the current social situation under the global financial crisis, the cruelty of culling trees that have lived 20-30 years expresses the difficult foothold in life for people in contemporary society. The calligraphy on the walls is by people in the community.
