About the artwork

“For the traveler who disappears” was the final theme of my work, Theater. My creative activities in Gimyou, the community in Matsudai where I landed, were various, covering fields such as history, climate, culture, and nature. When the theater was completed, we held performances of dance and Ningyo-joruri, the puppet theater with dramatic narrative. By far the greatest amount of time, however, was spent on building human relationships. An artist may claim no privileged speech or behavior in such a place. We must all discover how best to communicate our worth as human beings. Our project started as a joint work by three individuals. But then others suddenly popped up and participated, bringing new excitement to Theater—it produced many stars. The day will come when I myself disappear from the theater and become just another traveler.
