This work is a “facility” designed simply to promote sharing the summer sunshine and the beauty of water in Matsudai. After the cone-shaped objects holding the water were molded from plastic, students and instructors worked day and night to polish them. Great importance was assigned to the physical work of polishing as a model for a new type of borderless collaboration. With the facility the core of the project, thirty students stayed in Matsudai throughout the Triennial, providing assistance for workshops and working alongside the Kohebi-tai Triennial support group. Through their experience of communicating with people in the region, they formed new collaborative relationships that became part of the work itself.
