About the artwork

Coming down the mountain, the path opens suddenly to a wide space, once the village’s exercise grounds. Here the artist has taken old photo images evoking the region’s folk culture, beliefs, industry, agriculture, public administration, education and other fields, mixed them with recent photographs and planted them on poles stuck all about the field. The effect from a viewing platform is of a blanket of flowers in bloom. From the central viewing platform, the beauty of the surrounding scenery with its terraced rice fields and reservoir can be enjoyed as well. A place that had fallen into disuse is transformed into a garden that evokes the time build up by people.
