About the artwork

The title “Oikos” means “house” in Greek. The artist uses wooden poles to connect the interior and exterior of the house to create a path for natural energy to run through. The universe incorporated into the wood is the source of the mysterious powers of nature. The very stately house is boldly penetrated by these white wooden poles, bringing in outside energy and allowing the escape of heat built up inside over the years. In the neighboring space that is separated by a wall lies the “Carbon Forest,” comprised of fragments of charcoal and chopsticks.
