About the artwork

“I want to make an ‘event,’ not an ‘object.’” (Mitsuhiro Ikeda) When visitors peek out through the holes in the ceiling, they are confronted with a white space and the faces of strangers or friends with unusual looks. The puzzled faces and laughing faces of the visitors themselves are projected on TV monitors. The work induced such unusual communications and comically directed the relationship between “watching” and “being watched.”
