About the artwork

The site is a shed that was once part of a busy farming. A total of 4,500 postcards, with the theme of furusato, were gathered from in and out of Echigo-Tsumari and carried their messages by becoming a work of light. The shed, which once again became a place for communication, was renamed “Kamiebi-ike Kodama-do.” The sign for the shed was engraved by the villagers and received blessings at a shrine, with wishes for the success of the Triennial. During the Triennial, more than 1,000 people wrote postcards, and the stock of cards was exhausted.
