About the artwork
This billboard was placed on the approach to the Tsumari Ohashi Bridge, which spans the Shinano River. The text used, which cites Thales’ maxim “The principle is water,” is taken from Aristotle”s Metaphysics and encourages thought about the relationship between the history of Tsumari and water.
