About the artwork

Remembrance Field deals with the issues of migration and exodus in a world of accelerating globalization. The twenty banners standing in the terraced paddy fields of Amamizugoshi display scenes from Kanreizuka Story, a local tale, and images of lilies. Campos-Pons was strongly inspired by the wild lilies that reproduce by spreading their roots in this field. The artist interweaves her own memories of those whose lives are enriched by Amamizugoshi’s beautiful landscape.
